STEELEVILLE – Janet M. Gielow, 76, of Steeleville, passed away at 10:55 am, Friday, May 7, 2021, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon.
Janet was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on November 5, 1944, the daughter of Elmer and Marcella Sternberg Rubach. She married Marvin A. Gielow on October 10, 1964 in Steeleville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2017. Janet was a Homemaker and member of Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville. The church was a big part of her life. She served over 20 years on the alter guild, taught Sunday school for over 30 years, and she assisted with Wednesday All Stars for over 10 years. Janet also served on the fellowship committee, served on the Library Board in Steeleville and she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. In her spare time she enjoyed painting and crafting.
Janet is survived by one son, Matthew Gielow of Gettysburg, SD; one daughter, Kira (Adam) Fagan of Clayton, MO; and one brother, David (Bonita) Rubach of Steeleville.
Janet was also preceded in death by Parents; and sister, Ruth.
Funeral service will be at 1 pm, Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville, with Julie Posth officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 5 pm until 8 pm and on Wednesday from Noon until 1 pm. Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund or Chester Memorial Hospital Infusion Center. To sign the guestbook, visit www.wilsonsfuneralhome.net .
