CHESTER – Janet E. Eggemeyer, 84, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL.

Janet was born on July 1, 1938, in Percy, IL, the daughter of Matthew and Francis "Jennilea" (Brown) Pigford. She married Edmund Eggemeyer, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1987. Janet was a retired bookkeeper for Randolph County Housing Authority and a member of Grace Church Ministries, Chester, IL. She was a supporter of St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Janet is survived by her children: Barbara J. Higgerson-Harmsen (William House) of Steeleville, IL, Crystal (Van) Mueller of Chester, IL, Steve (Samia) Higgerson of Chester, IL; her grandchildren: Samuel, Adrian, Erica, Shea, Averi; her great grandchildren: Rylie, Brooklyn, Finley, Beau, Zoe, Vance; her siblings: Donna McIntyre of Sparta, IL, Linda Kuhnert of Sparta, IL and Thomas (Cindy) Pigford of Sparta, IL.

Janet is also preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Mark McIntyre.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 10:30 am, at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta, IL, with Rev. Ron Coleman officiating. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital, c/o Wilson's Funeral Home, PO Box 217, Steeleville, IL, 62288.
