MURPHYSBORO – James Murray Stockinger, 92, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at his home in Murphysboro, IL.

James was born on February 17, 1931, the son of Fred E. and Nellie (Dobyns) Stockinger. He married Marian Marie Cherry, she preceded him in death, then married Linda Green. James was self-employed. He was a former member of Dean Lodge #833 A.F. & A.M. of Ava.

James is survived by his wife, Linda Stockinger of Murphysboro, IL, his children: Marcia (Neal) Behrens of Campbell Hill, IL, Murray (Angie) Stockinger of Groesbeck, TX, Karen (Gary) Wilson of Cambria, IL, Kim (David) McRonald of Murphysboro, IL; his grandchildren: Trista, Melody, Candice, Justin, Tiffany, Tanya, Murray, Katelin, Riley; 15 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

James was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 10:00 am, at Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, IL, with Chaplin Dave Mishler officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery. Memorials may be given to Ava Food Pantry, c/o Wilson's Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Ava, IL, 62907.
