STEELEVILLE, James W. Smith, 77, of Steeleville, passed away at 1:30 P.M. Friday, February 06, 2009, at Three Springs Lodge in Chester, IL. James was born September 04, 1931 in Wine Hill, Illinois the son of Clarence J. Smith and Frances (Syloski) Smith. He married Treasure Rieckenberg on November 12, 1955 at Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville. He was a veteran of the Air Force in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Wine Hill, IL and was very active in church affairs. He was also a member of Randolph Co. Farm Bureau, Randolph Co. Soil & Water Conservation, FS Randolph Service Company and Chairman of the Board there, Steeleville School Board, Monroe-Randolph School Board, Randolph Co. Rep. Cent. Com., Randolph Co. Rep. Century Club, Soybean Association, Randolph Co. Pork Producers, RES Cooperative Coordinating Committee, Prairie Farmer Master Farmer in 1991, Gateway FS Board, Corn & Soybean Club, BBK American Legion Post #480 of Steeleville and the Color Guard there and Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553 of Chester. He is survived by his wife Treasure Smith of Steeleville; three daughters, Diana Smith of Ft. Worth, TX, Jamie (Wayne) Keller of Steeleville, Pennie (Dean) Saadallah of Arlington, TX; three grandchildren, Jacob (Christine) Smith, Ryan (Amanda) Wahlman, and Hanna Saadallah; one great granddaughter, Lexie Smith; one brother, Larry Smith of Chester, IL; and one sister, Pat Falkenhain of Steeleville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Rosalea Randolph and Dorothy Bottom. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 9, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Wine Hill with Rev. Edwin A. Reuter and Rev. Kathryn Bielfeldt officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery at Wine Hill, IL. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Sunday from 6 to 8 pm and on Monday at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville from 7:30 am until Noon and on Monday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Wine Hill, from 1 to 2 pm.
