CARBONDALE – James A. Rodemaker, 78, of Carbondale, IL, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, at his home.

James was born September 18, 1947, in Trenton, NJ, son of Henry J. and Jean (Schultz) Rodemaker. He was married to Julie Peterson and then Terri Treacy. James owned Sunflower Landscaping in Carbondale, IL. He graduated from York High School, Elm Hurst, IL in 1966, and Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL in 1972. James was a member of the National Speleological Society, IL Nurseryman's Association, JC Farm Bureau, and Carbondale Eagles Aerie #2569.

James is survived by his son, Eli James Rodemaker of Carbondale, IL, his grandson, Ethan James Rodemaker of Laramie, WY, his brother, Craig (Linda) Rodemaker of Napersville, IL, his niece, Jennifer Nolten of Napersville, IL, his nephew, David Rodemaker of Lisle, IL, his stepmother, Karen Rodemaker of Tampa, FL, and her daughters: Donna (Craig) Culver, Lisa (Paul) Romanowski, and Kimberly Trusik.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

James wishes were for Cremation and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
