AVA - James K. Qualls, 83, of Ava, passed away at 8:50 pm, Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Carbondale Rehab and Care Center, Carbondale, Illinois. James was born in Ava, Illinois on December 17, 1931, the son of Turner and Florence Holcomb Qualls. He was an US Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. James was retired from Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation. James is survived by one son, Jerry (Susan) Qualls of Willisville; one daughter, Jean Elaine (Brian) Kueker of Ava; daughter-in-law, Betty Qualls of Steeleville; three grandchildren, Brian (Crystal Chapman) Towle, Brett Towle, and Bradley (Kallie Garrison) Towle; three great grandchildren; brother, Charles Qualls of Joliet, IL; and sister, Dorothy Falkenbury of Muprhysboro, IL. James was preceded in death by his Parents; his wife, Doris Jean; two sons; one daughter; one brother; one sister; three half-brothers and three half-sisters. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm, Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Burial will follow. Those who wish to attend, are asked to meet at the cemetery. The preferred form of remembrance are memorials to St. Francis Animal Shelter.
