SPARTA - James Edward Pierce, 88, of Sparta, passed away November 11, 2021, at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL.

James was born February 13, 1933, in Sparta to Roy and Rose Pierce. He married Lottie Mae Volker on September 30, 1955, in Sparta. She survives. James worked at Spartan Printing in the Bindery Department for 36 years.

James is survived by his wife, Lottie Mae, four daughters: Jan (Keefe) Huddleston, Jean (Dave) Whittaker, Jill (Jeff) LeTempt, Jamie (Dale) Hartmann; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters. James was 1 of 14 children in his family.

James was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers.

James' wishes were for cremation and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
