Obituary
STEELEVILLE – On November 12, 2016, Jim went to join his bride, Gladys. James E. O'Neal, 87, of Steeleville, passed away at 10:30 pm, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Randolph County Care Center in Sparta.
James was born in Mechaniceburg, Illinois on November 27, 1928, the son of Earl F. and Ines G. Belcher O'Neal. He married Gladys L. Schossler on June 26, 1948, in Sandoval, Illinois. She preceded him in death on September 12, 2012. He was a retired truck driver from Farm Bureau Randolph County Gateway in 1992. Jim loved bowling at the Steeleville Legion Bowl. He bowled two times a week. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading as many History books as he could.
James is survived by one daughter, Nikki Lee; two sons, Ray O'Neal and James L. (Susan) O'Neal; and seven grandchildren, Dan Lee, James O'Neal II, Nikki Dean, Julia Rae, Danielle Nicole, Jamie Rae and Ashley.
James was also preceded in death by his Parents and two sisters.
Mr. O'Neal's wishes were for cremation and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Randolph County Care Center.
