STEELEVILLE - James M. Meier, 60, of Steeleville, passed away at 9:35 pm, Friday, September 6, 2013, at the Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL. James was born in Cape Girardeau, MO on January 2, 1953, the son of Melvin and Helen Biester Meier. He married Nancy S. Pensel on August 29, 1987 in Jackson, MO. He was a Machinist at Sparta Light Metals. James was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville, IL. James is survived by his wife, Nancy S. Meier of Steeleville; one son, Daniel (Kourtney) Meier of College Station, TX; one brother, John (Deborah) Meier of Collinsville, IL; mother-in-law, Dorothy Pensel of Jackson, MO; brother-in-law, Duane (Terry) Pensel of Jackson, MO; sister-in-law, Julie Woodruff of DesPeres, MO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. James was preceded in death by his Parents; one brother, Steve Meier; and father-in-law, Carl Pensel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Bruce Cameron officiating. Graveside service and burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Farrar, MO at 12:30 pm. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 9 to 10 am at the church. Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church, Farrar, MO or St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville.
