CAMPBELL HILL - James L. Smith, 80, of Campbell Hill, passed away 4:05 am, Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. James was born in Jackson County, Illinois on December 9, 1934, the son of James L. and Elsie O. Smith Smith. He was retired from World Color Press and was a member of the United Community Church in Campbell Hill. James is survived by his sons, James B. Smith of Campbell Hill, Mike Smith of DuQuoin, IL, Richard Smith of Campbell Hill, and David Smith of Campbell Hill; three step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; 14 step great great grandchildren; and 5 step great great great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and one step grandson. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Bartlett Cemetery in Ava with Rev. Marty DeRoche officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery. Memorials may be given to a Love Fund for the Family.
