MURPHYSBORO – Jackie T. Winters, 80, of Murphysboro, passed away at 10:23 PM, Sunday, March 19, 2017 at his home in Murphysboro.

Jackie was born on February 4, 1937, in Vergennes, the son of Henry and Lula (Nevells) Winters. Jack married Phyllis Elliott Grace, on April 4, 1987, at Pleasant Hill Church, Murphysboro and they shared nearly 30 years of marriage. Jack was a retired carpenter, he was a member of the Carpenters Union in Marion, member of the Ava Senior Citizens, and a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Murphysboro.

Jack is survived by his wife; Phyllis Winters, Murphysboro, children; Denise (Dee Dee) Garver, Vergennes, Kurt Thomas Winters, Ava, 2 step – sons; Steve Grace, Ava, and David Grace, Leland, North Carolina, 6 grandchildren; Mitchell Garver, Mindy Dudenbostel, Christopher Grace, Julia Grace, Tyler Garver, and Will Grace. 4 great grandchildren. Jack is also survived by 2 brothers; Robert Winters, Murphysboro, and James Winters, Murphysboro.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, with Rev. Adam King officiating, burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, and then on Wednesday from 7:30 to 11. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Church or the American Cancer Society.
