WILLISVILLE - Jackie Dean Griffiths, born to Simpson and Majorie Griffiths on December 13th, 1936 in
Willisville, IL. He died on December 15th, 2023 in Coulterville. He was preceded in death by both parents,
one sister, Rose and one brother, Russell. He is survived by his youngest sister, Katherine
Ehlers of Campbell Hill, IL. His wife of 67 years, Edith Sharon Griffiths, and his three children,
Rev. Christopher Griffiths (Debbie), of Mayfield Kentucky, Robin Griffiths of Chester, IL, and
Shari Hopkins (Robert) of Sparta, IL. Five grandchildren, Holly Cork (Jason) Of Paducah
Kentucky, Adam Conway of Campbell Hill,IL, Zachary Hopkins (Sarah) of Belleville, IL, Nicholas
Hopkins (Jenny) of Weekie Wachee, FL, and Logan Hopkins of Sparta, IL. and six great
grandchildren. He was a member of the Tri-County United Pentecostal Church of Cutler, IL for
over 55 years. He was an Ironworker for PJR in local 392 from which he retired.
He loved hunting and fishing and in his younger years, raising beagles and training them to hunt
rabbits. He married the love of his life, Edith Sharon McKenzie, on November 23, 1956 in St.
Louis. He said it was love at first sight. She did not, and was engaged to another man. He was
persistent and soon she fell in love with him. His greatest love and ambition in life was the Lord
and working in many different areas in the church. His first Pastor was Robert Rodenbush who
baptized him in the Community Lake in Willisville, IL. He received the gift of the Holy Ghost on
March 17th, 1963. He was greatly loved and cherished by his family and friends and everyone
who knew him.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Tri-County First Pentecostal church of Cutler, IL
on Saturday, December 30th beginning at 12 p.m, with Rev. Billy Pendergrass officiating. Visitation will be from 11-12. A dinner will be
served afterwards for family and friends. Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials and love offerings may be made to Brandi Rasnick with Celebrate Recovery.
