CHESTER – Irene D. Mueller, 97, of Chester passed away at 8:57 AM, Thursday, May 16, 2019, at the Randolph County Care Center, Sparta.

Irene was born on September 27, 1921, in West Point, Illinois the daughter of Theodore and Caroline (Freytag) Westerman. She married William A. Mueller, Jr., on August 6, 1939, in East St. Louis, Illinois, and they shared 41 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 30, 1981. Irene was a homemaker and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Point.

Irene is survived by her 4 sons; Karl Mueller, of Belleville, Illinois, Paul Mueller, of Chester, Illinois, Harvey Mueller, of Conover, North Carolina, Neil Mueller, of Hico, Texas, 9 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Mrs. Mueller was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother; Martin Westerman, 4 sisters; Nora Rader, Laura Hall, Minnie Westerman, and Frieda Hartman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Point, with Rev. Sean Smith officiating, burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church where friends may call from 10 AM to 1 PM. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville is assisting the family with the arrangements.
