AVA - Hugh D. Reeder, 93, of Ava, passed away at 9:30 am, Friday, July 13, 2012 at his home in Ava. Hugh was born in East St. Louis, IL on January 4, 1919 the son of Hugh D. and Ruth Bullar Reeder. He married Ruth A. McCoy on August 5, 1938 at Perryville, MO. She preceded him in death on May 24, 1981. Hugh served in the US Army during WWII. He was a retired operator for Shell Oil Co., Wood River, IL. Hugh was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Murphysboro; Charles Fricke Post #805, O'Fallon, IL; Paul Stout American Legion Post #127, Murphysboro; and the D.A.V. Hugh is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Clifford, Sr. and Carol Reeder of Ava, IL; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and sister, Naomi Potter of Murphysboro, IL. Hugh was also preceded in death by his Parents; one sister; one step brother; and one step sister. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava. Burial will follow in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 9 to 11 am Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or Autism Awareness.
