STEELEVILLE – Howard S. Wittenbrink, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL.

Howard was born on November 25, 1939, in Chester, IL, the son of Frederick and Eva (Asbury) Wittenbrink. He married Joanne Roberts on May 17, 1975, in Reno, NV. Howard was retired from Construction and attended Steeleville Baptist Church. He liked to fish and spending time with his grandchildren.

Howard is survived by his wife, Joanne Wittenbrink of Steeleville, IL, his children: Jeff (Tamara) Wittenbrink of Baton Rouge, LA, Robin VonSchwarz of Heath, TX, Chris (Susan) Wittenbrink of Snohomish, WA, Debora (Larry) VanEchardt of Salem, OR, Dennise Collins of New Athens, IL, Janey (Scott) Shepard of Royse City, TX, Jim (Hope) Wittenbrink of Steeleville, IL; his 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and his sister, Barbara Martin of Percy, IL.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 6 sisters.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Scott Foshie and Rev. Jared Pemper officiating. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Chester, IL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Wilson's Funeral Home, where friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 am.
