CAMPBELL HILL, Homer Dean Rieckenberg, 74, of Campbell Hill, passed away at 7:12 A.M. Monday, January 5, 2009, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, IL. He was born June 24, 1934 in Shiloh Hill, Illinois the son of George Rieckenberg and Emma (Kessel) Rieckenberg. Homer married Charlotte J. Lindner on May 12, 1983 in Chester, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Charlotte Rieckenberg of Campbell Hill, IL, Three sons: David and Sheyre Rieckenberg of Willisville, IL, Eric and Mary Polley of Steeleville, IL, Michael and Simy Rieckenberg of Green Acres, FL, Two Daughters: Sandy Rieckenberg of Swansea, IL, Toni and Michael Thies of Campbell Hill, IL, Eight grandchildren, Three Step grandchildren, Three great grandchildren, Two brothers: Leroy and Mae Rieckenberg of Campbell Hill, IL, Robert and Cathy Rieckenberg, Delano, MN, One sister: Earline and Calvin Eggemeyer of Steeleville, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during Korean Conflict then later retired from Captain Coal Mine. Homer enjoyed fishing and going to auctions. He was a member of the U.M.W. of A. Local #1380 and of the Lutheran Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one son-in-law, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava. Thom Thibeault will be officiating. Burial will be at Cottom Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava on Thursday from 5-8pm and 7:30am until hour of service on Friday. Memorials may be made to Specialized Living Center in Swansea of to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
