PERCY – Homer L. King, 86, of Percy, passed away at 10:22 am, Thursday, October 13, 2022, at his home.

Homer was born in West Frankfort, Illinois, on September 1, 1936, the son of Noah and Martha Bowles King.  He married Erlene Culley on April 7, 1957 at Royalton, Illinois.  Homer was a retired Dragline Operator from Arch Coal Co., Captain Mine.  He was a member of the Steeleville Baptist Church, and has filled several positions at the church.  He was also a member of Trico Lions Club, UMW of A Local #1392.  Homer was an avid Golfer and was a member of the Men's Golf League at Scuttle Inn.

Homer is survived by his wife, Erlene King of Percy; son, Rusty King (Susan) of Waterloo, IL; daughter, Lisa VanSant (Bill) of Sparta; and grandchildren, Jessi (Jarrod) Rucks, Erika (Rajan) Patel, Lauren Van Sant, and Kellie (Dakota) Crawford.

Homer was preceded in death by his Parents, four sisters, and two brothers.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Steeleville Baptist Church, with Rev. Ronnie Knox officiating.  Burial will be at Murdale Garden of Memory in Murphysboro at 2:00 pm.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 7 pm on Thursday, and on Friday at the church from 9 am until 10 am.  Memorials may be given to Steeleville Baptist Church Building Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois.  To sign the guestbook visit www.wilsonsfuneralhome.net.
