Obituary
JACOB – Herbert Korando, loving Father and Devoted Grandpa, 85, of Jacob, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at his home.
Herbert was born in Jacob on October 5, 1932, the son of Charles J., Sr. and Rosa Shields Korando. He married Ruby M. Thies on July 22, 1950 in Mississippi. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2012. Herbie was a retired Operator from Captain Coal Mine. He was a 40 year Trustee and a lifelong member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church, Raddle. Herbert was also a member of the UMW of A Local #1392, Knight of Columbus for over 40 years, and he was Degognia Township Supervisor for over 40 years.Herbert is survived by son, Daniel (Eula) Korando of Ava; two daughters, Donna (Craig) Whistle of Ava and Loretta (Bill) Morgan of Jacob; seven grandchildren, Ronnie (Shannon) Korando, Dawn (Eric) Rulevish, Carrie (Dave) Witthoft, Stephanie (Dan) King, Ryan (Geni) Morgan, Justin (Kayla) Morgan and Kyle (Prudence) Whistle; and 17 great grandchildren.
Herbert was preceded in death by his Parents; one sister; five brothers; and three infant brothers.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Raddle, with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating. Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Wednesday and on Thursday from 7:30 am until 9 am. Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm. Memorials may be given to St. Ann's Catholic Church; Wee Care; or Sandra's Comfort.
