CHESTER – Helen F. Gremmels, 97, of Chester, passed away at 5:35 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Three Springs Lodge in Chester.

Helen was born on March 28, 1921, in Campbell Hill, the daughter of William and Wilhelmia (Nordmeyer) Hornbostel. She married Alvin Gremmels, on June 9, 1940, in Bremen, and they shared 62 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on May 5, 2003. Helen was a homemaker and a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Bremen, and was an avid fisherman, and she loved to take care of her yard and property.

Helen is survived by special friends; Roy (Marilyn) Fedderke, Kevin (Stacey) Fedderke, Hunter Fedderke, all of Chester, Taylor Creamer, and Barbara Gremmels. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gremmels was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Harold Weber officiating, burial will follow at the Paradise Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday morning at the funeral home where friends may call from 11 AM to 1 PM. Memorials may be made to Vitas Healthcare.
