TILDEN – Helen L. Cissell, 94, of Tilden, IL, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, Illinois.

Helen was born on November 8, 1930, the daughter of Herman and Meta (Rauch) Weber. She married James Cissell on December 2, 1967, in Freeburg, IL. Helen was a homemaker and a waitress at various restaurants in the area. She was a member of Tilden First Baptist Church. Helen loved spending time at the Community Center, visiting with family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her!

Helen is survived by her husband, James Cissell, Sr., her children: Charles (Carrie) Schlesinger, David (Tammy) Schlesinger, Laura (Steve) Klingeman, Todd (Jo) Koester, Julie (Michael) Bonebrake, James (Rhonda) Cissell, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Karla Schlesinger, her 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Richard Schlesinger, 3 brothers: Robert Weber, Edward Weber, Charles Weber; 5 sisters: Louise Jansen, Evelyn Germaine, Norma Clark, Thelma Laflen, and Mary Schoen.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 am, at First Baptist Church, Tilden, IL, with Rev. Paul Hahn officiating. Burial will follow at Tilden Cemetery, Tilden, IL. Visitation will be on Friday morning where friends may call from 9:00 am until time of service. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Shriner Children's Hospital and can  be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
