AVA, Helen E. Cheatham, 92, of Ava, passed away at 6:25 P.M. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Rehab and Care Center in Murphysboro, IL. She was born January 06, 1919 in Jackson County, Illinois the daughter of Roscoe V. Harrouff and Pearl (McBride) Harrouff. Helen married Ezra Cheatham on July 8, 1935 in Ava, IL. He passed away on September 26, 1984. She is survived by her son: Wilford E. Cheatham of Marion, IL; daughter: Barbara Qualls of Joliet, IL; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four great great grandsons; two great great granddaughters; two sisters: Phoebe Barringer of Cedar Hill, TX, and Geraldine Mainland of Escondiolo, CA. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Doris Jean Qualls, four grandchildren, two brothers, and two sisters. She was a Homemaker in her own home and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Post Oak, Campbell Hill, IL and the St. John's quilters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava. Rev. Kathryn Bielfeldt will be officiating. Burial will be at Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, IL. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava on Friday from 6-8 PM and then on Saturday from 7:30am until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
