STEELEVILLE – Hazel I. Wilson, 89, of Steeleville, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022, at home in Steeleville.

Hazel was born in Baldwin, Illinois, on January 27, 1933, the daughter of George N. and Emma T. Hennrici Laufer.  She married Prentice P. Wilson on August 19, 1951 in Baldwin, Illinois.  She was a member of the Steeleville Baptist Church.

Hazel is survived by her husband, Prentice P. Wilson of Steeleville; children, Gail (Neal) Alford of Ecuador, Matthew (Jacquie) Wilson of Central, SC, and Kathy (Danny) Eggemeyer of Steeleville; 8 grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Taylor, Joseph (Rachel) Taylor, Michael (Mylissa) Taylor, Heather Wilson, Ryan (Elizabeth) Wilson, Autumn (Kyle) Halfacre, Danielle Eggemeyer and Sarah Hill; 14 great grandchildren, Chase Taylor, Caroline Taylor, Cole Taylor, Andrew Taylor, Esther Taylor, Nathan Taylor, Tirzah Taylor, Joanna Taylor, Madison Taylor, Mackenzie Taylor, Liam Wilson, Nattella Halfacre, and Havilah Halfacre, Gloria Eggemeyer; and sister, Edith (Leo) Mathis of Carlyle, IL.

Hazel was preceded in death by her Parents; daughter, Stacey Hill; two grandchildren, Nadia Halfacre and Klara Halfacre; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral service be on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 1:00 pm, at the Steeleville Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim McIntyre officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Sparta, Illinois.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 am until 1 pm, at the church.  Memorials may be given to Steeleville Baptist Church Building Fund.
