STEELEVILLE, Harry E. Abbey, 88, of Steeleville, passed away at 8:22 P.M. Saturday, November 22, 2008, at Three Springs Lodge in Chester, IL. Harry was born on July 5, 1920 in Kaskaskia, Illinois to Freeman and Christine Richie Abbey. He married Gloria C. Brown on October 6, 1944 in Murphysboro, IL. She survives of Steeleville. Harry was a retired truck mechanic. He was a World War II veteran of the Army and a member of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by his wife Gloria C. Abbey of Steeleville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, five brothers and six sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Greg Sutter officiating. Burial will follow at Percy Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Monday from 6 to 8 pm and on Tuesday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. American legion service will be held at the funeral home at 8 pm Monday under auspicies of B.B.K. American Legion Post #480 of Steeleville. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
