Obituary

MURPHYSBORO - Harold R. Wright, 76, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:45 am, Sunday, March 21, 2010 at his home in Murphysboro. Harold was born September 20, 1933 in Carbondale to Irvin Wright and Ruth (McKinney) Wright. He married the love of his life, Delores Garver in New Bethel Church in Vergennes on November 25, 1955. She survives of Murphysboro. Mr. Wright attended the Elkville Christian Church in Elkville, Illinois and loved his church and church family. Harold drove a trailer truck for 28 years for J.W. Ward and Glennon Transport. He then retired from driving and worked at R.A. Williams Farm Store in Vergennes. He also worked with McCormick Auction Service for many years. He was a Korean War veteran having served two years as a Korean peace time veteran in the US Army. Harold was a member of the DeSoto Masonic Lodge #287, DeSoto, IL and was a 32nd Degree Mason also belonging to the Scottish Rites Bodies of Southern Illinois. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local #347, the Jackson County Farm Bureau and the Oraville Water District Board, a lifetime farmer and took pride in his farm and raising cattle. Harold was a loving husband, father and grandfather. The light of his life were his two grandchildren, Brayden Michael and Camden Drew. He will be deeply missed. Along with his wife, he is survived by his two children and their spouses, Sandra Wright-Tripp and Claude Tripp of Ava and Stacey and Toni Kay Wright of Carterville; two grandchildren, Brayden Michael and Camden Drew Wright of Carterville; one sister, Jane Chamness and her husband, Dewey of Vergennes; and one brother, Donald Wright and his wife, Joyce of Vergennes. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marvin Wright of Murphysboro. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Elkville Christian Church. Bro. Gary Pruitt, Bro. Ron Kried and Bro. Jerry Aken will be Officiating. Burial will be at Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro, Illinois. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5 to 8pm at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, and then on Thursday, from 9 to 10 am at the Church. Memorials to Elkville Christian Church Building Fund. Military graveside services will be presented by the Jackson County American Legion and VFW.
