STEELEVILLE - Harold L. Keebler, 88, of Steeleville, passed away at 3:00 am, Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester. Harold was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on May 31, 1926, the son of Samuel and Thelma Mae George Keebler. He married Gladys F. Young on March 9, 1945 at Portland, Oregon. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2003. Harold was a Superintendent of Construction and a Farmer. He was an US Navy veteran, having served during WWII. Harold was of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of the Collinsville Lodge #712 A.F. & A.M.; Steeleville Eastern Star Chapter #738 O.E.S.; Scottish Rites Bodies of Valley of Southern Illinois in Belleville, IL; and the Ainad Temple in East St. Louis, IL. Harold loved music and played several instruments, but he enjoyed the Bass Fiddle the most. Harold is survived by two daughters, Donna (Jim) Ebers of Steeleville and Nancy (Bobby) Wiles of Greenville, GA; 17 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and special friend, Pat Knop of Steeleville. Harold is also preceded in death by his Parents; five sons; one daughter; one brother; and one sister. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Marvin "Bud" Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery, Chester, Illinois. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 7:30 am until 11:00 am. Masonic services will be held at 8:00 pm Tuesday under auspices of Alma Lodge #497 A.F. & A.M. Memorials may be given Shriners Hospital for Children.
