AVA – H. Charlotte Curry, 81, of Ava, passed away at 2:50 am, Friday, October 9, 2020, at home in Ava.

Charlotte was born in Ava, Illinois, on January 29, 1939, the daughter of William Charles and Helen E. McCoy Benson.  She married John R. Lakenan on November 24, 1961 in Cahokia, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on December 29, 1984.  She then married Joseph Curry on September 14, 1985 in Ava, and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1991.  Charlotte was a retired Retail Clerk.  She was a member of Crain Baptist Church, Ava; and the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Murphysboro.

Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Letitia Brooks of Ava and Charlene Lakenan of Ava; four grandchildren, Kristina (Jimmy) Maynard, John (Jessica) Brooks, Terry, Jr. (Jacque) Brooks, and Nick Lakenan; eight great grandchildren; Honorary Granddaughter, Deborah Wills; and two brothers, Charles (Betty) Benson of Murphysboro and Rodney Benson of Ava.

Charlotte was also preceded in death by her Parents; one son, Clay Lakenan; two sisters, Ruth Moutria and Judy Hester; one brother, Dennis Benson.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, Illinois, with Rev. Tim Olson officiating.  Burial will follow.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 9 am until 10:30 am until Wednesday.  Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Crain Baptist Church.  To sign the guestbook visit www.wilsonsfuneralhome.net .  Due to executive order, face masks must be worn and social guidelines must be followed.
