PERCY - Gussie H. Brandt, 70, of Percy, Illinois, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015 in Ocala, Florida. Gussie was born in Percy, Illinois on September 6, 1944 the son of Lucille Papenberg. He married Arline Smyth on April 21, 1965 at Chester, Illinois. Gussie was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church - Post Oak, Campbell Hill, Illinois. He was retired from Gilster Mary Lee as a Supervisor after 38 years. Gussie is survived by his wife, Arline Brandt of Percy; one daughter, Cherie L. Brand of Percy; one son, Doug (Becky) Brandt of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Matt (Sarah) Brandt, Breanne (Tony) Deatherage, Lyle Brand, Gussie W. Brandt, and Ed Brand; great grandchildren, Kenny Skurat, Jillian Deatherage, Elijah Deatherage, Cody Brandt, and Archer Brandt; niece, Melissa (Kirk) Doeding, one nephew, Justine (Jami) Papenberg; and a very good friend, Owen Stone. Gussie was preceded in death by his Mother and Brother, Dennis Papenberg. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Ron Chase officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Saturday and on Sunday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
