STEELEVILLE - Gloria Behnken, 67, of Steeleville, passed away at 3:30 am, Friday, October 10, 2014 at the Three Springs Lodge in Chester, Illinois. Gloria was born in Marion, Illinois on August 29, 1947. She was the daughter of Jonnie Matheny and Ruth Camden Newbold and the step daughter of Elbert Newbold. She leaves her loving husband, Richard Behnken of 31 years. Gloria was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville. She managed Huck's Store in Steeleville for 25 years until her health caused her retirement. She loved people, to Gloria, everyone was special. Her favorite quotes are, What you are is God's Gift to you, What you become is your gift to God. Love starts with a smile grows with a kiss and ends with a tear. Gloria is survived by her husband, Richard Behnken of Steeleville; three children and one step daughter, Keith Parks of DeSoto, IL, Kenny Parks of Ballwin, MO, Melody Parks (Todd) DeCollo of Noblesville, IN, and Sheila (Jon) Gaetz of Percy, IL. Gloria adored her grandchildren, Brandon Parks, Cameron and Levi Gaetz, Alex and Joel Behnken, Dominick DeCollo, and Madison and Ariava Gaetz. She is also leaves her sister, Kathy (Steve) Earl of Marion, brother, Greg (Tina) Newbold of Creal Springs, IL; one sister-in-law, Norma Jean Ohlau of Campbell Hill, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her Parents; one step son, David Behnken; and one daughter-in-law, Leah Behnken. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating. Burial will at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville on Monday from 5 pm until 8 pm and on Tuesday from 9:00 am until hour of service. The preferred form of remembrance are memorials to Randolph County Humane Society in Sparta, it was a charity close to her heart or Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville.
