IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Glenda M.
Minton
February 3, 1938 – February 11, 2026
STEELEVILLE – Glenda M. Minton, 88, of Steeleville, IL, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, Illinois.
Glenda was born February 3, 1938, in Rhinelander, WI, the daughter of Archibald John Anderson and Ruth Elizabeth (Raulie) Anderson. She was a 1956 graduate of Rhinelander high School and joined the U.S. Air Force upon graduation. Glenda was stationed in Texas and Florida, working in Statistical Services.
While in the Air Force and stationed at Elgin Air Force Base in Pensacola, FL, she met fellow Airman Jerry Lee Minton. They were married on October 17, 1959, in Chapel #2 at Eglin Air Force Base. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2014.
Together, Jerry and Glenda built the Minton Insurance Agency in Steeleville. She enrolled in computer classes at a local community college in the 1970s, a forward-thinking approach at the time, and her new-found computer skills enabled the insurance agency to gain efficiency and prosperity.
Glenda was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Steeleville, where she served for more than 20 years as the financial secretary. Once again, her computer skills brought a modern approach to tracking finances and attendance. Later in life she helped gather volunteer servers for funeral lunches and assembled weekly church bulletins. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for a decade.
Glenda loved returning to the family cottage which dates back to the 1930s in her native Rhinelander, WI. Her children still own the waterfront family cottage in Rhinelander, WI, and traveling there each summer is a long family tradition for the Minton family. At the cottage, she enjoyed playing cards, visiting with family and watching the beautiful sunsets over the Wisconsin River, just as she had done as a little girl when her grandparents owned the cottage.
Glenda is survived by her three children: Jon (Geralyn) Minton of Steeleville, Meta Minton and husband, David Towns of Lady Lake, FL, Mark (Linda) Minton of Rochester, IL, her grandchildren: Matthew Minton, Michael (Allie) Minton, Joseph Minton, Eva Minton and Elena Minton; her three brothers: Jeffrey Anderson of Florida, Michael (Judy) Anderson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Timothy Anderson of Kansas City, KS; her cousins: Kathy Anderson of Rhinelander, WI, Kevin Anderson of Tomahawk, WI; as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edward Anderson, stepmother, Norma Anderson, sisters-in-law, Anne Anderson and Carol Anderson, and cousin, Mark Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 am, at St. Marks’s Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, with Reverend Mark Harriss officiating. Burial to follow at St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be Sunday evening, February 15, where friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and then on Monday morning from 7:30 – 9:00 am at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, and then 10:00 am until time of service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or Steeleville Public Library and can be mailed to Wilson’s Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
