AVA – Glen A. Bower, 86, of Ava, passed away at 11:39 am, Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Glen was born in Ava, Illinois, on November 23, 1936, the son of Grover Lee and Gladys Ruth Talbott Bower. He married Patricia Claussen on June 9, 1956, at the First Baptist Church in Ava. Glen was the Owner and Founder of Bower Truck Service, Ava, Illinois. He was baptized in 2019, by a Good Friend, Pastor Sam Higgerson.

Glen is survived by his wife, Patricia Bower of Ava; two sons, Roger (Sharon) Bower of Ava and Randy (Karen) Bower of Ava; one daughter, Karen (Robert "Giz") Thies of Ava; grandchildren, Stacey (James "Mouse") Schatte, Katie Brewer, Chad (Katelyn Kirby) Bower, Robbie (Kaytlyn Bizzell) Thies, Clayton (Katie Sanders) Thies, Parker Thies, and Virginia Smith; step grandson, Michael Lindner; great grandchildren, Lilly, Raegyn and Kendyl; step great grandson, Titus Lindner; brother, Steve (Kathy) Bower of Ava; and two sisters, Carolyn Rogers of Scott AFB and Vivian Franklin of Belview, MO.

Glen was preceded in death by his Parents; one brother; and three sisters.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Sam Higgerson and Rev. Bob Spangler officiating. Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 7:30 am until the hour of service.
