AVA, Gladys M. Rathert, 84, of Ava, passed away at 2:00 A.M. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at her home in Ava, IL. Gladys was born August 11, 1926 in Bradshaw, Nebraska the daughter of Otto Junge and Lena (Maronde) Junge. Gladys married Homer E. Rathert on June 2, 1946 in York, Nebraska. Homer preceded her in death on January 14, 2008. Gladys was a retired Claim Adjuster for Country Companies and former owner of Kinkaid Kountry Kitchen in Ava. She was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, IL, WELCA and Altar Guild at St. Luke's, Campbell Hill American Legion Auxiliary Post #1096, Home Extension, and the Ava Senior Citizens. The family would like to thank Sandy, Phyllis, Judy and Hospice of Southern Illinois for allowing Gladys' wish to stay at home be granted. Gladys is survived by four sons, Mike (Debra) Rathert of Ava, Tom (Kathy) Rathert of Ava, Sid (Debra J.) Rathert of Ava, Tim (Jill) Rathert of Nashville, TN; two daughters, Pat (Will) Duensing of Danville, IL and Judy (Dennis) Rodewald of Campbell Hill; 32 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three sisters, Laura Harlow of Hastings, NE, Betty (Bob) White of Delavan, WI, and Ruth Ann VanDenbos of Gretchen, OR; and three sisters-in-law, Bernice Junge of York, NE, Pat Junge of Whittier, CA and Ruby Merrit of Lincoln, NE. Gladys was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill with Revs. Laura and Matthew Kamprath officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Campbell Hill. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava on Sunday from 4 to 8 pm and on Monday from 7:30 am until 9 am and on Monday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill from 10 to 11 am.
