STEELEVILLE - Gilmer R. Brueggemann, 84, of Steeleville, passed away at 2:15 pm, Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Coulterville Care Center in Coulterville, IL. Gilmer was born in Steeleville, IL on March 19, 1929, the son of Richard and Clara Koch Brueggemann. Gilmer married Rudelle Niemeyer on June 4, 1955 at Bremen, IL. She preceded him in death on September 28, 1995. Gilmer was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville. He was retired from Spartan Light Metals, Sparta, IL. Gilmer is survived by two sisters, Norma Wolters of Coulterville, IL and Delores Doss of Coulterville, IL; one niece, Kathy Stiens of St. Louis, MO; one nephews, Bryan Doss of Coulterville, IL; 4 great nieces and nephews; 1 great great niece; and 1 great great nephew. Gilmer was also preceded in death by his Parents. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville with Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where friends may call from 1 to 3 pm on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
