Gerald W. "Red" Farris, 53, of Cutler, passed away at 6:28 am, Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at his home in Cutler, Illinois. Gerald was born in Pinckneyville, IL on April 11, 1960, the son of James V. and Ammie R. Pratt Farris. He married Carla "Kay" Miller on August 22, 1981 in Cutler. He formerly worked for Bruster Brothers in St. Mary's, Missouri. He was of the Baptist Faith. Gerald is survived by his wife, Carla "Kay" Farris of Cutler; one son, Bradley (Crystal) Farris of Murphysboro; one grandson, JonMikel Wayne Farris of Murphysboro; his mother, Ammie Farris of Pinckneyville, IL; five sisters, Carolyn (Harry) Duncan of Browns, IL, Peggy (Charles) Stevenson of Breese, IL, Joyce (Mike) Weinhoffer of Cutler, Martha (John) Oden of Sparta, IL, and Pamela (Roland) Luthy of Amelia, OH; two brothers, James "PeeWee" Vernon, Jr.(Brenda) Farris of Campbell Hill, and Harold Farris of Pinckneyville; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Gerald was preceded in death by Father and one brother. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Cutler with Rev. Mike Higgerson officiating. Burial will follow in Cutler Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday and on Saturday from 9 to 10 am at the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Cutler. Memorials may be given to a Love Fund for the Family.
