CAMPBELL HILL – George P. Miller, 87, of Campbell Hill, passed away at 8:45 pm, Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Chester.

George was born in Jones Ridge, Illinois, on October 28, 1935, the son of George L. and Ruth Mock Miller. He married Anita Brockmeyer on February 13, 1960 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Wine Hill, Steeleville, Illinois. George was a Veteran of the US Army from 1958 until 1960. He was a retired Carpenter and Former Owner of Shiloh Hill Tavern. George was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Wine Hill, Steeleville; Carpenters Union #1361, Chester, IL; and Shiloh Hill Community Club. He was well known for his pickled eggs.

George is survived by his wife, Anita Miller of Campbell Hill; children, Paul Miller of Percy, Neil (Teresa) Miller of Steeleville, and Joyce Lindenberg of Steeleville; grandchildren, Lindsey (Jordan) Priebe, Valerie (Lucas) Liefer, Kristina (Dylan) Wappel, Kayla (Kole) Boland, Jennifer Lindenberg and Heather Lindenberg; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Nancy Schmeiderer of Salem, IL; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Brockmeyer and Delores Brockmeyer; and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his Parents; son-in-law, Randy Lindenberg; sisters, Ruby Wheeler, Shirley Wizeman, Martha Williamson, and Katherine Jones; brothers, Maurice Miller and Jim Miller.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:00 am, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Wine Hill, Steeleville, Illinois, with Rev. Alan Bachert officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call on Friday from 5 pm until 8 pm and on Saturday from 7:30 am until 9 am, then from 10 am until 11 am at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery-Wine Hill or Honor Flight of Southern Illinois.
