AVA - George W. King, 90, of Nokomis, IL, formerly of Ava, IL, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Heritage Health in Pana, Illinois. George was born in Elkville, IL, on August 5, 1921, the son of George Washington and Irlena Qualls King. He married Lucille Leonard on March 30, 1940 in Jackson, MO. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2003. George was a veteran having served during WWII. George was a retired welder from Caterpillar. He was a member of the Coalton Baptist Church, Coalton, IL; the V.F.W.; the American Legion; and the Masonic Lodge. George is survived by two sons, Terry King of Nokomis, IL and Rodney King of Niantic, IL; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one great great grandson; and one brother, Loren E. King of Ava. George was also preceded in death by his Parents; two sons, Dwight and George, Jr; four sisters; and one infant brother. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, with Rev. Robert Boyett officiating. Burial will follow in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 1 to 3 pm Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the Ava Missionary Baptist Church.
