SPARTA – George A. Christopher, 73, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, Illinois.

George was born on August 28, 1951, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Claire and Esther (Willingham) Christopher.  He was retired from Hussmann Refrigeration Corp, St. Louis, MO. George was a member of the Thresherman Association, Pinckneyville, IL, and was of the Baptist Faith.  He loved woodworking and working on small engines. George enjoyed spending time with animals and the family knew him as the Donkey Whisperer.

George is survived by his sister, Louise (Ricci) Nehrt of Sparta, IL, his niece, Jennifer, his nephew, Zach, his 2 great nieces, Makyla and Eva, and his great nephew, Logan.

George was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Shirley, and a brother, Craig.

George's wishes were for Cremation and a Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Memorials can be given to the Thresherman's Association, Pinckneyville and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
