George "Pops" Brooks, Jr.'s Obituary
SPARTA – George "Pops" Brooks, Jr., 74, of Sparta passed away at 7:08 AM Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta.
George was born on June 15, 1942 in Sparta the son of George Brooks, Sr. and Dorothy (Covington) Brooks. Pops was retired from Gilster's in Chester. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Sparta.
Pops is survived by his mother; Dorothy Brooks of Sparta, children; Perry (Angela) Brooks, Todd Brooks, Jeraldine Lanton, Robbie Harris, Adrian Harris, Becky Harris, Jack Gleghorn, all of Sparta, Angel (Nathan) Scott, of Dacula, GA, and Belinda Reeves, of St. Louis, MO. 4 brothers; Philip Wayne, of Sparta, Ricky Brooks, of Sparta, Roger Brooks, of Los Angeles, CA, and Jimmie Brooks, of Atlanta, GA. 1 sister; Tammy Brooks, of Sparta.
George was preceded in death by his father; George Brooks, Sr., and 2 brothers; Ronald Brooks, and Pierre Brooks.
Private memorial service was held at 11 AM, Monday, September 12, 2016, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Doug Rice officiating. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date in Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta. Memorials may be made the to American Cancer Fund.George "Pops" Brooks, Jr.'s Guestbook
