Obituary

MURPHYSBORO - Genevieve Quigley McKenzie, 87, of Murphysboro, formerly of Chester, IL, passed away at 1:35 am, Saturday, April 15, 2012 at Parkway Manor in Marion, IL. Genevieve was born December 14, 1924 in Winkle, IL the daughter of Herman and Anna Adams Macke. She married Ronald W. Quigley on May 6, 1945 in Swanwick, IL. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1986. She later married Charles McKenzie on February 25, 1988 in Chester, IL. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1993. Genevieve was a homemaker and a retired secretary. She was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Chester, where she was a member of the choir, taught Sunday School and was a very active member in all activites. Genevieve is survived by two daughters, Ronda (William) Wilson of Ava and Terri (Roger) Twenhafel of Murphysboro; two grandchildren, Nick (April) Twenhafel and Lori (Ross) Dobson; two step grandchildren, Aaron (Jenny) Wilson and Amy (Merle) Boland; two great grandchildren, Ella Twenhafel and Ethan Dobson; four step great grandchildren, Kaylee and Kole Boland and Kaden and Kanon Wilson; one brother-in-law, Roy Anthes of Bakersfield, CA; and the family of Charles McKenzie. Genevieve was also preceded in death by her Parents; one granddaughter, Mindy Anneth Uchtman; three brothers; and six sisters. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Charles Allen and Bro. Don Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Swanwick. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm and on Wednesday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. The family requests that anyone attending the funeral to come to the lunch at 11:00 am Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Ava. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Elm Street Baptist Church of Murphysboro, or the First Baptist Church of Chester.
