SPARTA – Gayla McIntosh, 71, of Sparta, passed away at 2:37 PM, Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois.
Gayla was born on February 20, 1947, in Waynesville, Missouri, the daughter of Everett G. and Eva J. (Reese) O'Neal. She married Thomas McIntosh on July 3, 1965, in Woodriver, Illinois, and they shared 52 years of marriage. Gayla was a homemaker and a member of the Steeleville Baptist Church.
Mrs. McIntosh is survived by her husband; Thomas McIntosh, of Sparta, her children; Michelle Williams, of Sparta, Michael (Lori) McIntosh, of Sparta, and Tony (Mary) McIntosh, of Detroit, Michigan, grandchildren; Makayla Lappin, Austin Goodman, Ryan Wittenborn, Tyler Wittenborn, Nicohel Russell, and Kyle McIntosh, great grandchildren; Jaxon, James, Kaiden, Scarlett, and Waylen. She is also survived by her siblings; Judy Jones, of McLoud, Oklahoma, Gene O'Neal, of Troy, Illinois, Chris O'Neal, of Troy, Illinois, and Terrie Wasson, of Sparta.
Gayla was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 granddaughter; Jamie Russell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the Steeleville Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Scott Foshie officiating, burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, in St. Louis, Missouri on Tuesday March 6, 2018 at 1:15 PM. Vitiation will be held on Monday evening at the church where friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, and then on Tuesday from 8:30 AM until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the Steeleville Baptist Church. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
