PERCY – Gary L. Potter, 79, of Percy, IL, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Illinois.
Gary was born on November 5, 1945, in Eldorado, IL. He married JoAnn Biermann on February 27, 1981, in Chester, IL. Gary was a Retired Coal Miner. He was member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, and Wednesday morning Bible Study. Gary enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Gary is survived by his wife, JoAnn Potter of Percy, IL, his children: Shelly (John) Haferkamp, Daniel (Debbie) Rosendohl, Robin (Bill) Knowles, Christina (James) Batson; his grandchildren: Nadine, Raelyn, Cassidy, Megan, Jr, Anna Beth, Missy and Billy; his 7 great grandchildren, his siblings: Jerry (Peach) Potter, Steve Potter, Dean (Dana) Potter, sister-in-law Janet Becker, brother-in-law Charles (Gloria) Biermann; and many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his Parents, a son, David Potter, a granddaughter, Jessica, a sister, Norma, a brother, James, a sister-in-law Loetta, and a brother-in-law, Ed.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Mark Harriss officiating. Burial to follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be on Friday morning, where friends may call from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the Church. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran Church and School and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
