AVA, Gary L. Hornbostel, 55, of Ava, passed away at 2:07 P.M. Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL. Gary was born November 15, 1954 in Murphysboro, Illinois the son of Herbert E. Hornbostel and Luella (Bierman) Hornbostel. He married Charla J. Rednour on September 17, 1977 in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, IL. Gary was a correctional officer at Menard Correctional Center, Chester, IL. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, the National Wild Turkey Federation and AFSCME Chapter #56, Chester, IL. Gary is survived by his wife Charla J. Hornbostel of Ava; one son, Joshua (Amanda) Hornbostel, Sr. of Lenzburg, IL; grandchildren, Joshua Hornbostel, Jr. and Alexis Hornbostel; two sisters, Betty Wilson of Willisville, IL and Avonell Salger of Willisville, IL. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter; one infant grandson; one infant niece; and one infant sister. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill with Debra Rathert, S.A.M. officiating. Burial will follow at St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Campbell Hill. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Friday from 5 to 8 pm and on Saturday from 7:30 am until 9 am at the funeral home then from 10 to 11 am at the church.
