MURPHYSBORO – Gary Lee Elbrecht, Sr., 58, of Murphysboro, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 in Murphysboro.

Gary was born in Murphysboro, Illinois, on September 17, 1961, the son of the late Herbert L. and Loretta Lee Davis Elbrecht. He married Edwina "Winnie" Whitler-Elbrecht on June 12, 1982 in Virden, Illinois. She preceded him in death. Gary was a Licensed Plumber and Handyman. He was of the Lutheran Faith. Gary was President of the Last Soldier Standing Club.

Gary is survived by three children, Jessica (John) Welten of Murphysboro, Gary (Tara) Elbrecht of San Antonio, TX, Joe (Christina) Elbrecht of Murphysboro; grandchildren, Grant, Blake, Avery, Brookelynn and Raelyn; and one sister, Beverly (Clifton) Franklin of Virden, Illinois.

Gary was also preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be held at 5 pm Friday, November 15, 2019, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, with Minister Deb Rathert officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro. Visitation will be on Friday on 2 pm until 5 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Ava Volunteer Fire Department for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Awareness.
