MURPHYSBORO, Gary Duane Easton, 69, of Murphysboro, passed away at Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale in Carbondale, IL. He was born April 05, 1941 in Murphysboro, Illinois the son of Calvin Parker Easton and Wilma (Grosvenor) Easton. Gary married Delight Fay Hunsaker on January 29, 1971 in Nashville, TN. He is survived by his wife Delight Fay Easton of Murphysboro, IL; eleven children: Victoria Powers of West Frankfort, IL, Terry and Mary Beth Bower of Murphysboro, IL, Michael Bower of Chester, IL, Ronda Burnett of Knoxville, TN, Bob and Pat Bower of Murphysboro, IL, Gillis Sloan of W. Berry CN, Waynette Walters of Albuquerque, NM, Faith Ann and Lenny Howard of Murphysboro, IL Timothy and Tammy Easton of Murphysboro, IL, Michael Easton of Murphysboro, IL, and Terry and Teresa Easton of Atlanta, GA; 18 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one sister: Sharon and Gary Sanders of Mattoon, IL. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, and one son Jerry Easton. He was a retired mechanic and of the Pentecostal faith. Gary and his wife Delight owned Easton Automotive and Transmission in downtown Murphysboro for many years. Gary was an avid race fan and for 25 years he raced sprint cars, number 88, on the outlaw circuit in 4 states. In 1994 he opened Easton's Salvage and specialized in Antique Massey Harris tractors and parts. He often competed in area Tractor Pulls with his own beloved Massey Harris. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, IL. Rev. Jim Easton will be officiating Burial will be at Murdale Garden of Memory in Murphysboro, IL. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 8pm and then on Saturday from 7:30am until the hour of service at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, IL. Memorials may be made to TIP Hospice.
