STEELEVILLE, Frieda Hulda Gremmels, 91, of Steeleville, passed away at 1:20 A.M. Friday, January 22, 2010, at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL. She was born January 3, 1919 in Cutler, Illinois the daughter of Henry Gremmels and Hulda (Alms) Gremmels. Frieda was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Steeleville as well as, St. Mark's Ladies Aid and Priscilla Club and on the Choir for 45 years at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She was retired from Sparta Light Metals, Sparta, IL. Ms. Gremmels is survived by her nephews: Nelson and Shirley Gremmels of Novato, CA and Paul and Sharon Gremmels of Steeleville, IL; niece: Joyce and Don Wheeldon of Sparta, IL. eight great nieces and nephews; eight great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister Lucille. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville. Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke of St. Marks's Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Saturday from 6-8 PM and then on Sunday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran School.
