PERCY - Freemon M. Fritsche, 77, of Percy, passed away at 5:20 am, Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri after a 15 year battle with cancer. Freemon was born in Jacob, Illinois on October 23, 1936, the son of David P. and Ida Oetjen Fritsche. He married Margaret Reed on January 29, 1955 at Jacob, Illinois. Freemon was a retired over the road driver for Valley Steel in Centralia, IL and a retired mechanic from Captain Mine. Freemon was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob; the U.M.W. of A Local #1392; former Teamster union; Coca Cola Club; and the Mustang Club of America. Freemon is survived by his wife, Margaret M. Fritsche of Percy; children, CoCo (Dennis) Tope of Ava, Darrell (O'Dette) Fritsche of Willisville, Brent (Ronda) Fritsche of Percy; grandchildren, Luke and Adam Tope, Amber (Phillip) Heern, Jamie Fritsche, Heather (Anthony) Fritsche, and Tiffany (John) Park; four great grandchildren, Sydney Brewer, Carter Park, Ella Park and Treyton Heern; and one sister, Norma Ernsting of Steeleville. Freemon was preceded in death by his Parents; three sisters; and one brother. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville with Rev. Stephen Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Percy Village Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm to 8 pm Tuesday and on Wednesday from 7:30 am until 11 am. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society.
