Obituary

Ava - Fred LePere, 92, of Ava, passed away at 11:32 pm, Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at his home in Ava, IL. Fred was born in Sato, IL on August 4, 1920, the son of William E. and Edna Stout LePere. He married Dorothy Callais on May 14, 1946 at First Christian Church in Murphysboro. Fred was a farmer and was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII in the 5th Army in North Africa and Italy. He was a member of Sato Baptist Church in Ava and the B.B.K. American Legion Post #480 in Steeleville. Fred was survived by his wife, Dorothy LePere of Ava; children, David (Theresa) LePere of Roanoke, VA, Stephen (Father Symeon) LePere of Ava, Celinda (Michael) Wilkening of Conifer, CO and Donald (Carol) LePere of Ava; grandchildren, Erik and Bryon LePere, Greg Wilkening, Lisa Wilkening-Johnson, Alexis (Sister Kasiana) LePere, and William and Blaine LePere; and 9 great grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Eldon, Lester, Leland, Wilbur and Wendell LePere; and three sisters, Eleanor Edgar, Lois Gibboney and Joyce Reuscher. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Don Caraway and Rev. Byron LePere officiating. Burial will follow in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Thursday and on Friday from 7:30 am until 11 am. Memorials may be given to Sato Baptist Church or T.I.P. Hospice.
