AVA- Frank E. Svanda, 87, of Ava passed away at 12:47 pm, Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester. Frank was born March 12, 1923 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Frank and Emma Lnincek Svanda. He married Esther M. Stegman on April 25, 1943 in Campbell Hill, IL, she preceded him in death on November 25, 1994. Frank was a retired carpenter. He was a very active member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, IL. Frank is survived by his children, Mary (Jim) Bogenpohl of St. Charles, MO, Carol Winscher of St. Louis, MO, Pat (Gene) Miller of Benton, IL, Don (Alice) Svanda of Murphysboro, IL, Debbie (Ted) Hinkebein of Florissant, MO, Rick (Cindy) Svanda of Ava, IL and Lisa (David) Uffelman of Murphysboro, IL; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two brothers, Otto (Eldean) Svanda of Mt. Vernon, IL and Norman (Mary Jane) Svanda of Sparta, IL. He was also preceded in death by parents, three brothers, one grandchild and one son-in-law, Charles Winscher. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Alan Kornacki officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Campbell Hill, IL. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Monday and on Tuesday from 7:30 am until 11 am. Memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
