CAMPBELL HILL – Frances H. Volkman, 102, of Campbell Hill passed away at 5:30 AM, Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at her home in Campbell Hill.
Frances was born on May 24, 1916, in Plainfield, Illinois, the daughter, of Levi Austin and Mary (Book) Hartong. She married Albert John Volkman, on February 14, 1944, in Plainfield, and they shared 34 years of marriage before he preceded in on December 24, 1978. Mrs. Volkman was a homemaker and a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, and was a member and an officer of the St. Peter Ladies Aid. She graduated from the North Central Collage in Naperville, Illinois in 1938, and taught at the Campbell Hill High School from 1939 – 1943.
Frances is survived by her children; Jerry Volkman, of Campbell Hill, Douglas (Bonnie) Volkman, of Campbell Hill, Ralph (Anita) Volkman, of Ava, 2 grandchildren; Albert (Kendall) Volkman, Courtney (Nick) McConache, 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Volkman was preceded in death by her parents, one son; Arlen Volkman, sister; Gertrude Hartong, brother; Laverne Hartong, 1 infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, December 22, 2018, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill with Rev. Alan Kornacki officiating, burial will follow at the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava where friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, and then on Saturday from 7:30 to 9 and from 10 to 11 AM, at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Ladies Aid or St. Peter Cemetery Fund.
