Floyd "Ben" Cressey, 84, of Ava passed away at 9:33 AM Friday, July 15, 2016 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Floyd was born on November 13, 1931 in Leslie, MO to Floyd B. Cressey and Susan (Danz) Cressey. He married Elizabeth Ann Colarelli on May 18, 1957 in Lemay, MO. She proceeded him in death on May 2, 1995. Ben served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the rest of his life for the Rock Island Railroad Company where worked as an agent for them until his retirement.
Ben is survived by three sons; Michael Cressey of Ava, Daniel (Lisa) Cressey of St. Louis, MO, and James (Susan) Cressey also of St. Louis, Mo. He is survived by three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ben is also survived by one sister; Margaret Virginia Lacy of Hopkinsville, KY.
Ben was proceeded in death by his parents, one son; Thomas Cressey, and one brother; William Cressey.
His body will be cremated and there will be no services, his cremains will be buried next to his wife at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bellefountaine Habiltlation Center, St. Louis, MO.
