STEELEVILLE - Florence Knop, 90, of Steeleville, passed away at 1:20 pm, Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester. Florence was born in Steeleville, IL on November 8, 1921, the daughter of Charles and Dena C. Hornbostel Mueller. She married Adelbert H. Knop on September 18, 1943 at Steeleville. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1992. Florence was a homemaker. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville; Life member of the B.B.K. American Legion Auxiliary Post #480, Steeleville; Kaskaskia V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3553, Chester; DAV, Murphysboro; Lions Club; and AARP Chapter #3797, Steeleville. Florence is survived by two daughters, Margaret Knop of Steeleville and Linda Knop of Steeleville; one niece, Leona (Delbert) Wilson of Arnold, MO; and a host of special friends and relatives. Florence was also preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter, Lillian. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 16, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville with Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Sunday with an American Legion Auxiliary service at 7:00 pm and a VFW Auxiliary service at 7:30 pm and on Monday from 7:30 am until 9 am then from 10 to 11 am at the church. Memorials may be given to the Peace Lutheran Cemetery Fund or the Lions Club seeing eye dog program.
